Forest View Students Create for the “Empty Plate”
As part of preparations for the Greater Lansing Food Bank’s second annual “Empty Plate” Dinner and Auction, students at a local elementary school in Lansing, Mich. participated in a paint painting event. Following is an excerpt from an article in the March 2008 issue of their newsletter Tornado Tidings:
On Friday March 14, 2008, 150 of Forest View’s students had the opportunity to paint ceramic dessert plates to help with the Greater Lansing Food Bank’s fund-raiser called “Empty Plates.” Because of our connection to the Food Bank [GLFB] through [last December’s] crystal sale, we were asked if we would be interested in helping and the teachers at Forest View were very enthusiastic.
Sharon Krinock, [GLFB Executive] Director, and Jerren Osmar, owner of Piece of Mine [Pottery Studio] were both [on hand] to help us paint the plates. Jerren donated the plates, paint brushes, and the firing of the plates as well as his time to the project.
It is very nice for all of us that we continue our affiliation with the Greater Lansing Food Bank and important that we try to frequent the local companies that actively support [it].
The GLFB is proud to be able to give each attendee of its “Empty Plate” event a plate made by the students of the Forest View School and salutes these talented youngsters as part of Camille’s Kids.
